LFP-2012 Pre-departure Orientation took place in Kyiv

Took part in the PDO for Ukrainian participants of the Legislative Fellows Program - Fall 2012.

First day of the PDO took place in the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv (hence no photos), where we met with the American Councils' Country Director Yarema Bachynsky and Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy Arthur T. Evans.

We discussed the US political system and current political processes, Dennis Bazilevych from the Professional Lobbying and Advocacy Institute discussed how lobbying works in the United States - based on his yearly experience at the US Congress.

Later on the first day we met with the LFP alumni from different years at an informal dinner, where we learned a lot about their internships, daily life and post-fellowship projects.

On the second day we had a talk from Brad Miller, FLEX Program Hub-director, who discussed American lifestyle and basics of cross-cultural learning, as well as the US work environment.

PDO ended in TGI Friday's, where its always Friday! ;) Thanks to Oksana Semenyshyn, Legislative Fellows Program coordinator @ American Councils for International Education in Kyiv, for hospitality and advice!
