Tsunami in Hawai'i - emergency management in action

Yesterday experienced how emergency management works in the US.

First news came as a notification about Tsunami alert from Google (usually i get annoying weather updates). In 10 minutes the regular TV programming was stopped and live coverage on tsunami began. Later the sirens and loud speakers from vehicles (and perhaps helicopters) were heard.

After all the fuss, the evening ended with a tsunami party with neighbors from a house closer to the ocean - which was not the first of such parties in my host's house. In the morning we went together to the country club to celebrate our rescue. ;)
